FAQ
Before you try your first career.
Short answers about the simulations, required experience and how progress works.
Do I need coding or IT experience?
No. Early tasks start in Guided mode, introduce unfamiliar concepts when you need them, and gradually reveal more of the real work environment.
Is IT Career Lab a course?
Not exactly. The focus is career simulation: you receive realistic workplace tasks and use short explanations, Field Guides and feedback to complete them.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The learner experience is designed to run in the browser. Some simulations use safe, simplified versions of professional tools so you can experiment without setting up a development environment.
Can I try more than one career?
Yes — that is the point. Your Career Passport keeps progress across roles so you can compare how different kinds of IT work feel before committing to one path.
How realistic are the tasks?
Tasks are simplified enough for beginners, but they are based on recognizable workplace patterns: tickets, code changes, terminal diagnostics, delivery decisions and customer communication.
Does Career Passport tell me which career I should choose?
No. It records what you tried, how much help you used and which skills you encountered. It is evidence for your own reflection, not an aptitude test or automatic career recommendation.
Why are there Guided, Assisted and Work modes?
People arrive with different levels of experience. Guided mode explains more and reduces visual complexity; Assisted keeps useful context; Work mode removes most coaching and feels closer to the real tool.
Will more careers be added?
Yes. The platform is being designed around reusable workbenches so more roles can be added without turning every career into the same quiz format.
